  • May 2019
    BayWa r.e acquires Whitelaw Brae Wind farm. Plans for the windfarm can be found here. They state: ‘consent for the construction and operation of the Whitelaw Brae Wind Farm was granted by Scottish Ministers in December 2017 and BayWa r.e. acquired the project in May 2019.’
  • April 2024
    Ripple (now in administration) launches its Whitelaw Brae share offer, billed as the UK’s largest people-owned renewable energy project. tInformation about its original plans can be found here, along with a video introducing the project, and details of the Co-operative share offer from 2024.
  • December 2024
    Thrive Renewables acquired Whitelaw Brae wind farm and secured rights for the project in December 2024 (source). They state:  ‘Project Scale: The wind farm will feature 14 turbines, generating up to 149,400 MWh of electricity annually—enough to power 46,100 average UK homes while reducing emissions by 65,300 tonnes per year. Timeline: Construction is slated to begin in 2025, with commissioning planned for the end of 2026.’
  • Jan 2025
    Ripple updates members by saying: “We are working with the new owner of the project – Thrive Renewables – to facilitate Ripple’s Co-operative model and shared ownership of the project, similarly to what we have done on previous projects. In the meantime, work is progressing on the detailed design and key contracts prior to the start of construction so the programme can be maintained. If you are interested in taking part in the project or buying additional watts, we hope to restart selling shares in the Co-op in the not too distant future. We will update you more as soon as we can.”
  • March 2025
    Ripple calls in administrators (source). Investors in Ripple Energy projects 1-3 are updated by their Co-operative Boards on their status. Investors in the Whitelaw Brae project call for clarity on their investment after receiving no updates from any source.
