Status Update 2 – Request For General Meeting Delivered

Yesterday afternoon (26/3/2025), the Steering Committee of Friends of Ripple Coop 4 sent a request for a general meeting of Ripple Coop 4 to the Coop’s Board of Directors. (See yesterday’s status update for the details). The requests were sent by Royal Mail registered post and by email. Royal Mail tracking indicates that the letter has been delivered to the registered head office of Begbies Traynor, (Administrators of Ripple Energy) in Manchester.

The other addresses that the letter was sent to are:

  1. The registered office of Ripple Coop 4 in Ayr, Scotland.
  2. The registered office of Ripple Energy in London.

These two letters are still in the process of being delivered by Royal Mail. They require a signature. The email was also sent to the Birmingham office of Begbies Traynor which is assigned to Ripple Energy.

Per the Coop rules, letters sent are deemed delivered after 48 hours and emails after 8 hours.

We have received an email response declining responsibility to interact with the Coop (or the remaining Board members) from an individual at Begbies Traynor previously identified as a responsible party. We have sought clarification from them about their response.

The Coop 4 board is required under the Coop society rules (20.3) to convene a general meeting within 1 month of receiving the request.

We are waiting for their response. We will publish an update when we receive one.

The Coop 4 board is responsible for notifying each coop member of the general meeting via email/post via the managing person/company. If you are a member of Coop 4 and your contact details are up to date with Ripple Energy via the dashboard, you should receive a notification from them.

The Steering Committee was formed from volunteers on the general forum and is empowered to act using the 188 signatures collected by petition. In the meantime, if you have not signed the petition please consider doing so here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf20YAeC0Un9KlAokJtZA4ACwPQLxp8wELK1
